Where tumbleweeds blow...
So, I just got back from a visit to Lubbock, Texas, which greeted me with a dust storm upon arrival, but bid me farewell with warm, sunny skies. Before I left, I scrambled to try to get my new digital camera purchased/delivered so I could take it with me, but...it arrived this morning, only hours after I got home. So, instead I'm puting together this hokey review of what was done in Lubbock with the help of Web patchwork.
Mostly, Jenn and I spent a lot of time talking, eating and shopping. At left, you see shaved ice from the famous Bahama Buck's, with locations in Jenn's hometown and around ASU, of all places. Our lengthy conversations have grown from covering boys, teachers and parents to relationships, sex, jobs, co-workers and family--I figure there's really no difference, but it sounds more mature, right? We covered everything from that sex ed documentary made in Lubbock to the hi-brow fare offered on MTV. We watched The Family Stone and talked about wanting to watch Brokeback.
I went shopping, bought clothes and my new favorite necklace, and was given a confidence boost from Jenn in consumer rights.
I also got to meet Morgan and Molly, Jenn's cat and her mom's dog, respectively. Again, I didn't have my camera yet, so you'll have to do with the mental image of dog and cat tag-teaming to destroy ornaments and play-fighting constantly.
Jenn showed me her beautiful historic high school, and I got to meet some of her Texas friends...
All in all, it was a relaxing little vacation in a new place with an old friend, and I feel a little more like myself. With a little more deep breathing, I may even be ready to tackle my new job. Thanks for being a good hostess and great friend, Miss Jenn. Now, we return to my regularly scheduled life...
